I came in to see Dr. Thompson for a consultation about an implant. The office is conveniently located in Deer Park near Deer Park shopping mall. Dr. Thompson was very clear about my treatment options and possible outcomes. He suggested alternative remedies and that was very thoughtful. I recently had a dental implant procedure at Oral Facial & Implant Specialists in Deer Park. I was warmly greeted by the staff upon my arrival which helped alleviate any anxiety. Prior to the procedure, Dr. Thompson explained the implant process and fielded any questions. I experienced great patient care at OFIS. I was losing my upper teeth because of bone loss which was on caused by periodontal disease. I decided to have all on 4 implants and fixed temporary bridge on my upper jaw which was placed the same day. I was very anxious about whole experience and I am happy to make the right decision to discuss my option with Dr. Thompson. He is very knowledgeable and experienced snd friendly surgeon. He assured me that I am a candidate for this procedure after reviewing my CT scan. I decided to have IV sedation and the surgery was painless and after I woke up I could not believe I am done with the implant placements. It did just take less than 2 hours for upper extractions and implants placement. Ottawa Lab performed photogrammetry procedure and prepared my temporary fixed bridge while I was recovering in office and I got my beautiful set of teeth ready and placed after the surgery. I loved how it looked so natural and I am so happy with the results. The recovery was just one day and I had little discomfort. I am so thankful to Dr. Thompson and staff especially Anita to take care of me and give me my smile and confidence back. They provided the best patient care and I knew I was in good hands. December 2025 . . . another visit! Again, a check-up and consultation. Same wonderful service and friendly, professional people from staff members to the doctor.
January 2023 . . . My first visit (a consultation). I found everyone to be skilled, professional and friendly. They took time to answer my questions and explained the process from tooth extraction to implant. On my second visit, I actually had the tooth extracted. They were wonderful! Efficient and caring. The professionals explained step by step what was happening, assisted me after the procedure, and followed up the next morning. My final visit the tooth area was prepped for the crown/tooth. I’m very pleased with the professionalism of the entire staff from front office, billing, Doctor Thompson and all the assistants throughout this practice. I have been a patient for more than 10 years and if you’re looking for a Oral Surgery practice that will listen to you, address your concerns, and really make you comfortable in the process as well as the aftercare -this is the practice for you! Everyone works as a team, Anita is the Implant coordinator and has made me feel comfortable with her knowledge and experience.

I went for my initial consultation and received exceptional service. I wasn’t even finished completing paperwork, yet I was invited to get my x-rays and complete paperwork afterward. After that portion was finished, a staff member informed me the doctor was delayed due to treating a “dental emergency,” and apologized profusely for the delay. Shortly afterward, a staff member brought me to an exam room, again, apologizing for the delay and making sure I was comfortable. After a rather short amount of time, another assistant came in to apologize about the delay and provide me a brochure about my procedure and loaded my xray. I waited a little bit more, and the oral surgeon came to talk with me about my procedure, accompanied by two assistants who stood behind me. I felt like I had a team taking care of me!.

At the end of the discussion, I met with the incredibly pleasant and kind staff member who shared the financial aspects of the procedure. As we finished, she apologized again for the long wait and said, “Let me get you a Starbuck’s gift card for the inconvenience.” I explained it wasn’t that long, and she replied, “Well, the gift card isn’t much, yet we want to show our appreciation for your patience." I was awed.

While I can’t say I’m glad to be oral surgery; I can say that I’m glad very glad to be doing it in the care of Dr. Martin and the staff at Oral Facial and Implant Specialists.!

I have gone to Dr Thomson for the extraction of 4 teeth and the install of an implant.  Dr, Thomas has always numbed me so that I felt no pain,  I have never had a recovery problem. Trying to find a doctor that specializes in sinus lifts were few and far between when searching for someone in our network. Since my endodontist doesn't do sinus lifts, I had to find someone who does, before my procedure with him.
I was first seen for a consultation with Dr. John Travis Thompson.
My husband and I were impressed with Dr. Thompson. He was upbeat and positive. We were surprised to hear that Dr. Thompson's recommendation to do a procedure was less invasive that what I had originally been advised to have. We were so impressed with Dr. Thompson that I decided to have him do my dental implant as well. I am sure it will go well and will update this review if everything is not as expected.

Update, Two Months Later…I went in for my scheduled dental implant which originally involved a sinus lift and bone graft. Dr. Thompson ordered an X-ray which showed that I no longer required a sinus lift or a bone graft. This is based on my experience as a new patient coming in for an extraction and consultation for implant.  From my first phone call to make the appointment to checking out on day of services, I had a great experience. All administrative staff is pleasant and professional.  Amanda gave good information all along the clinical experience and sent me home with what I needed for my recovery.  Dr. Thompson talked through the whole process while he removed my bridge and extracted a molar and greatly reduced my anxiety. His plan for the implant made sense.
